Nearly a year in and I’ve already made the cardinal sin of webcomics; missing a schedule. I’m not one to make excuses, but I do think you, the reader, deserve an explanation slightly more personal than ‘family issues’.

You see, next week, I’ll be getting married, and as part of preparing for this momentous occasion, I’ve been juggling a full time job, building up a buffer, preparing for all the conventions, etcetera etcetera.

As luck would have it, a close relative was recently hospitalized with a nearly terminal heart condition, requiring the wife-to-be to drop everything and drive down south to join the rest of the family. I say nearly terminal, because I now believe in miracles. Things are looking up, but we’re not out of the woods just yet.

I would like to give a personal thanks to those who have stuck by us during this difficult time, and those whom understand this delicate situation.

Normally we try to keep things goofy, but I’d like to just say, if there’s someone you love in your life, who is going through something serious or difficult, take a moment, and tell them how much they mean to you.

Then tell them about Damn Heroes so we can make a buck and make ’em smile!

P.S. As I’m on my way back from Florida, I’m trying my darnedest to keep to our Wednesday publishing schedule. I couldn’t get the strip scanned, cleaned up and colored in time, so I’ve stopped at a Holiday Inn express somewhere in Virginia, and used my iPhone to scan my inks, and put them up. So you get a black and white comic for today, but at least you get your weekly fix.

You’re welcome!

UPDATE: Color version eventually made it up after the fact. Still haven’t missed a deadline!
