So, I managed to catch the Robocop reboot this weekend.

No, not this one, the new one!

And…err…I liked it.

Well, I don’t want to be that guy, who complains about the never ending reboots, because as Cracked.com points out [citation needed], reboots aren’t a new thing.

Still, I was a bit worried going into this. It turns out it was a very enjoyable flick.

Like the original, it was just full satire, only instead of panning the consumerism of the 80’s, it seemed to be poking proxy wars and drone warfare.

The core difference that I noticed though, was the characters were a bit more serious than the original. What I mean to say was that every character, good or bad, was more of an archetype in the 80’s version. The bad guys were clearly bad guys because they hung around in abandoned warehouses, did enough drugs to make Keith Richards blush, and shot people for no reason.

In this version, the criminals are clearly criminals, but for them it was “just business”, and weren’t cartoon characters like in the original.

Other than that, I couldn’t get over the human hand on Robocop. Just felt wrong.

Oh yeah, here’s a peek at this week’s strip!
